Body Waxing for Everyone

Waxness brand Hard and Soft Waxes are used to remove unwanted facial and body hair on men and women, with a special hair pulling technique to help ease the process. We also carry hypoallergenic waxes to help protect sensitive skin. Waxing can be done on the face, scalp, and body. For maximum hair removal, we recommend having at least 1/4 inch of hair on the body (as long as a grain of rice). Or, waiting 3 to 4 weeks from your last shave. Wait 4 to 6 weeks from your last wax. Also, the area to be waxed should be exfoliated at least 24 hours in advance to prevent irritation and to remove as much hair as possible with minimal passes.

WAX PREP
DO NOT SHAVE BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT! You need 3-4 weeks worth of hair growth. So, that the hard wax can grab the hair.

If you are on or START your CYCLE before your appointment please WEAR a FRESH TAMPON and CLEAN the AREA. Please note that you do not have to wax on your cycle and should cancel your appointment 24 hours before, if you are uncomfortable with waxing on your cycle for any reason.

DO NOT SHOWER RIGHT BEFORE your APPOINTMENT, this may cause the hard wax to adhere to the skin, which can cause SKIN LIFTING and IRRITATION. A few hours before is sufficient.

Please EXFOLIATE the area 12 to 24 HOURSBEFORE your APPOINTMENT using body scrub or exfoliating gloves and moisturize the skin afterwards. This helps the hair come up better and minimizes irritation. If the skin is too dry, skin lifting may occur, which can cause prolonged irritation in the area waxed.

Do NOT apply lotion, oil, or deodorant Right before appointment, it will be removed and makes it difficult for the hard wax to grip the hair.

If you have a sunburn, you CANNOT be waxed until it has healed. Peeling is not healed. Waxing over this may cause further skin irritation.

Electrolysis, Permanent Hair Removal

Exciting news! THE TRAVELING WAXER, now offers electrolysis permanent hair removal services. Electrolysis is the only FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved method of permanent hair removal.

Benefits Of Electrolysis Hair Removal
Electrolysis works on ALL areas of the body, ALL hair types, and ALL skin complexions. Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis can treat any hair color, including red, blond, white, and gray.

How Does Electrolysis Hair Removal Work?

During the process, the electrologist inserts a small probe into an individual hair follicle and applies a micro current of electricity to the root. The heat generated then damages and destroys the papilla and germination cells, thus killing the hair follicle. Each treatment of electrolysis effectively destroys 20 to 30 percent of the hairs treated.

How Long Does the Electrolysis Process Take?

Each individual electrolysis treatment can vary in time. Typically, an appointment can last 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the treated area. However, several treatments are required over several months in order to effectively clear the hair from a treated area. The amount of time needed to remove the hair depends on the area’s amount of hair and follicle density. Treatments can be spaced out days, weeks, or months apart, and usually take 9 to 24 months to completely remove the hair from an area. Although this is a lengthy process, the lasting results are worth the time spent.

Does Electrolysis Hair Removal Hurt?

Each client’s experience with electrolysis will differ based on their pain tolerance. For more sensitive individuals, alternative methods can be used to make the treatment more tolerable. After your treatment, you can expect the affected skin to become red and irritated; however, this should resolve within 24 hours.

Will My Hair Grow Back?

No, the hairs that are destroyed with electrolysis will not grow back; however, it is always possible that new follicles will become active in the treated area. Electrolysis is the only permanent, FDA-approved method that will effectively destroy individual hair follicles. Despite this, other factors can impact hair growth, such as your lifestyle, diet, hormonal changes, and age. Any one or all of these factors can affect the stimulation of new hair germination cells that can stimulate hair growth. However, this is not the case for the majority of people. Normally, it is observed that new hair follicles will not grow in treated areas after electrolysis. If this does occur, a short maintenance session can be scheduled.

Are there any side effects?

For many, electrolysis has little to no side effects, commonly resulting in mild redness for a few hours post treatment. However, for some, electrolysis can leave the skin irritated and cause hyperpigmentation. These effects are not permanent, and can be treated after the electrolysis treatment is completed.

Here are some ways to prepare for an electrolysis appointment :

  • Hydrate. Drink 8–10 glasses of water, herbal tea, or coconut water a day in the week leading up to your appointment. You can also incorporate more hydrating fruits and vegetables to your diet. Wet hair follicles conduct heat and current better than dry ones, so being hydrated can make the treatment more comfortable. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate your skin and make it more sensitive.

  • Avoid sun exposure. Sun exposure can increase skin sensitivity, so avoid the sun for at least 24 hours before your appointment. You should also avoid tanning beds.

  • Trim long hairs in the area to be treated the day of your appointment, but don't shave it. The hair needs to be long enough for the tweezers to grab it. Trimming makes it easier for your electrologist to access the hair follicle, which can lead to a more precise and effective treatment.

  • Stop plucking and waxing. These can distort your follicles and may even encourage stronger, coarser hair to grow in the area.

  • Avoid harsh skin treatments. Stop using retinol or retinoid treatments, and avoid other harsh topical treatments, at least three weeks before your first appointment.

  • Take a pain reliever. You can take a pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment to make the treatment more comfortable. If you're very sensitive, you can also take aspirin before your appointment.

  • Wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes to your appointment.

  • Wash the area before your appointment to ensure a hygienic treatment area. This also helps to add moisture to the skin. You may also exfoliate the area with a scrub or exfoliating glove/cloth 2 to 3 times a week, but especially the night before your appointment to remove dead skin buildup that may be blocking the hair follicle.

  • If you have questions, I recommend doing a google search on Electrolysis. This may answer most of your questions. You will even find videos of the treatment online. Next, schedule a consultation. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
