Electrolysis Treatment Frequency
(General recommendations – may be adjusted based on your hair growth and goals)
Big picture: how often should clients come?
Electrolysis works best when we:
-
Start with an intensive phase – appointments are closer together so we can keep the area as clear as possible and catch each new growth cycle.
-
Then gradually stretch out appointments as the hair thins and slows down.
A good rule of thumb for most areas:
-
Phase 1 (Intensive): Every 1–2 weeks
-
Phase 2 (Reduction): Every 3–4 weeks
-
Phase 3 (Clean-up/Finishing): Every 4–6+ weeks
Why do I need to come so often at first?
Electrolysis permanently destroys hair follicles, but hair grows in cycles. Not all hairs are visible at the same time. In the beginning, I need to see you more often to clear what’s there and catch new hairs as they come in.
As we thin the area out and you start seeing fewer hairs, we’ll naturally stretch your appointments farther apart. Over time, you’ll move from coming every 1–2 weeks, to every 3–4 weeks, and eventually just occasional touch-ups as needed.
If you choose to come less often than recommended, that’s completely okay — your progress will simply be slower, and it will take longer to reach your final result.
Now here’s how that looks broken down by area.
FACE – Chin, Jawline, Upper Lip, Sides, Neck
These areas are often hormone-influenced and can be stubborn.
-
Phase 1 (first 3–6+ months):
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
Compromise: Every 3 weeks (slower progress)
-
-
Phase 2 (once visibly reduced):
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3 (clean-up):
-
Every 4–6 weeks or as needed
-
BIKINI LINE – Female
For just the outer bikini/crease area:
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
Compromise: Every 3 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6 weeks / occasional touch-ups
-
BRAZILIAN / FULL BIKINI – Female
(Includes bikini line, labia, and between the cheeks)
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
Compromise: Every 2–3 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6 weeks
-
This area is often coarse and dense, so an intensive start makes a big difference.
MALE PELVIC / PRIVATE AREA
(Pubic mound, base/shaft, scrotum, inner groin, between the cheeks)
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
Compromise: Every 2–3 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6 weeks
-
UNDERARMS (All Genders)
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
Compromise: Every 2–3 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6+ weeks
-
Underarm hair is usually coarse but not as hormonally stubborn as chin/jaw, so progress can be very satisfying with consistent visits.
CHEST & STOMACH (All Genders)
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks
-
If treating large areas, some clients alternate sections every 2 weeks.
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6+ weeks
-
BACK & SHOULDERS (All Genders)
-
Phase 1:
-
Ideal: Every 1–2 weeks, focusing on different sections if needed
-
Compromise: Every 2–3 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6+ weeks
-
For big body areas, it’s common to do shorter, more frequent sessions instead of waiting 5–6 weeks and trying to do everything at once.
ARMS & HANDS
(Upper arms, forearms, fingers, hands)
-
Phase 1:
-
Every 2 weeks is usually enough
-
Super dense areas: Every 1–2 weeks
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6+ weeks
-
LEGS & FEET
(Thighs, lower legs, toes, tops of feet)
-
Phase 1:
-
Every 2 weeks is usually a good starting point
-
Can sometimes do every 3 weeks if hair is not extremely dense
-
-
Phase 2:
-
Every 3–4 weeks
-
-
Phase 3:
-
Every 4–6+ weeks
-
